SFSU Handbell Choir April 28th at Harbor Village!

Half Moon Bay, Ca: The Shops At Harbor Village Will Host the SFSU Handbell Choir on Saturday April 28th at Noon. The group will perform inside the Mall Atrium where seating and tables will be set-up. The merchants at Harbor Village are extremely excited to host the group for their spring performance. Caroline Harnly, a librarian at SFSU, is the group's director and founder. She is also the director of Bells of Joy, the Community United Methodist Church of Half Moon Bay’s handbell choir. Caroline Harnly would be the best point of contact for this event and she can be reach via email at charnly@sfsu.edu.
About the SFSU (San Francisco State University) Handbell Choir:The SFSU (San Francisco State University) Handbell Choir was formed in 1997. The group performs approximately 10 times a year. They regularly perform at various SFSU campus events, at senior residences in San Francisco and on the Peninsula, and as part of Redwood City's annual Hometown Holiday celebration. Once a semester they give a joint concert with the Temple Hill Choir, an auditioned vocal choir based in Oakland. The group also participates in the annual Days of Christmas concert series at Temple Hill in Oakland. They have given three concerts at the San Francisco Zoo, certainly one of our more interesting performance venues! The group rings on 4 1/2 octaves of Schulmerich handbells and on 3 1/2 octaves of Malmark handchimes. The handbell choir members are a mixture of SFSU faculty, staff, students, alumni, and friends. The handbell choir frequently performs as a small ensemble of five -- playing what is known as 12-bell music. For these performances, we only use 12 handbells and play from music stands instead of in the traditional "off the table style". Caroline Harnly, a librarian at SFSU, is the group's director and founder. She is also the director of Bells of Joy, the Community United Methodist Church of Half Moon Bay’s handbell choir. Caroline is also a member of Low Ding Zone, the world's first bass bell only handbell ensemble, and performs regularly as a handbell soloist.
